The Mountain House

Escape the daily grind at this secluded 5 bedroom, 3 and a half bath mountain home set in the woods. A full length rocking chair porch introduces the great room with 37 ft. tongue and groove pine ceilings with exposed beams, wide plank pine walls, oak flooring and floor to ceiling fieldstone fireplace. The well-appointed kitchen boasts Stilestone countertops, tile back splash, double sink, gas stove top, double ovens, refrigerator, dishwasher and trash compactor. Adjacent to the kitchen is the guest powder room and the separate dining area.  Enjoy meals inside or outside on the screened porch.

Off the great room is the master suite with coffered pine bead board ceilings. Mission style lead glass doors open to an office with fireplace, mini refrigerator, and built in bookcases. The master bath has a jetted tub, separate shower, double vanities, a water closet and extra-large walk-in closet. Down the hall to the 2 car garage is a wall of closets and pantries leading to the laundry room.

An upstairs loft area overlooking the great room is the perfect complement to two guest bedrooms sharing a Jack-and-Jill bathroom.  The terrace level offers a large family room with fieldstone fireplace, 12 ft. pine tongue and groove ceilings, tile flooring, and a fieldstone bar with microwave, sink and refrigerator. Two additional bedrooms and a Jack-and Jill bathroom complete the terrace level.

Special enjoyable moments include eating on the screened porch, walking along the dirt road to feed the neighbor’s horses, listening to the rain pitter, patter on the metal roof, rocking on the porch listening to quietness and peacefulness only found in nature, riding ATV’s along the nearby trails, trips into Helen (15 minutes away) to play Putt Putt golf and eat caramel apples, and spending the day on Lake Burton (10 minutes away). There are plenty of day trips to keep you busy, but the best part of the day is coming home to the solitude and peacefulness of a mountain home.

From the owner:

The mountain house has been our retreat from all of the noise and congestion of living in Atlanta. We have had so many memories at the house with family and friends and our grandchildren have loved feeding our two favorite horses at the end of the road, Roscoe and Andre along with all the fish in the river that flows down the stream under the bridge.  Our children learned to ski and wake board on Lake Burton. We have kept our boat dock side at the old Kastner’s store for years. This will be available to anyone interested as well. It may be the best deal in the county since you can just go down and jump on your boat and go for the day. Fall is especially beautiful down the lane of Water Falls Way. It is so relaxing and quiet.
