From the owner:

We have loved the cabin as a family for many years and many reasons.  My parents bought it when I was 2--I am 65 now--the oldest of 5 kids who grew up on the lake every summer and often in the fall, winter and spring.  My mother loved to watch the boats go by on the way to LaPrade's and would rush out to see what boat was passing--if she wasn't already on the big, airy porch playing solitaire, working a crossword puzzle or keeping an eye on us kids.  My dad loved the lot because of it's gentle slope to the water (only 40 feet or so from the cabin) and the protected area for all of us to play and swim in, ski from, or just lounge on the dock sunning ourselves or watching the sun set a couple of coves down where the waterway turns toward LaPrade's.  What fun taking the boat to LaPrade's for one of their wonderful meals or fishing for brim (bream) or perch or crappie off the end of the marina or from our own dock.  Heading out for the dam for 4th of July fireworks was always a special treat.  We would jockey for one of the front positions and be among the last to leave heading back to the cabin.  Seeing all the lights on the lake full of boats was as much fun as the fireworks.  My dad had fishing holes for us kids; but he was a master fisherman and also had his favorite spots for trout and bass.  He caught the record trout one year and his picture from the paper was posted at the original LaPrades until it was no more.  When the lake got let down my dad and I would walk the shoreline and I would search for arrowheads.  In the summer we would walk the roads and pick blackberries and wild blueberries.  My dad wanted a retreat with no TV and no phone.  He kept the cabin rustic for that reason and we never bothered to upgrade because it was such an easy visit and encouraged family to be together.  I hope whoever decides to make this wonderful property their home will keep part of the footprint and use some of the marvelous heart pine.  It was such a special place--close to LaPrade's, close to the fish hatchery, not far from the dam and a huge lot counting our ~2.5 acres and the acre plus between us and the cabin on the point next door--as much privacy as one could hope for on the lake.  Only happy memories here--a wonderful legacy to pass to the next lucky owner.
